MEET THE ARTIST

Maria Hoshovska

Born on January 7, 1992, Ukraine. Since 2018 works and lives in Cracow, Poland.

Having pursued her passion for art from a young age, Maria studied painting at the University in Lviv, where she excelled and earned a Master's Degree with honours in the specialized field of "Restoration of Art Works."

Maria's artistic style is defined by her confident use of colour and abstract shapes, blending classical techniques with modern abstraction. Her creative process is characterized by playfulness and spontaneity, resulting in pieces that are vibrant and dynamic. Through expressive brushstrokes and a rich palette, she layers paint to infuse each work with a sense of history and ethereal beauty, creating a distinctive fusion of classical elegance and contemporary expression.

In her paintings, Maria  excludes facial features, focusing instead on capturing the essence of human emotion and expression through body language and form. This intentional omission allows viewers to project their own interpretations onto the figures, inviting them to engage more deeply with the universal themes of human experience that Maria explores in her art.

By omitting facial details, Maria emphasises the universality of human emotions and experiences, transcending individual identities to evoke a sense of collective humanity. This way, everyone can see their own feelings in her art. Maria wants people to think about how we're all connected through our emotions and experiences, no matter who we are.

"My education resulted in an interest in the forms of stone carvings. Mostly ancient, but not only that. Each epoch has its references in the art and forms of statues. Undoubtedly, the ancient times and the Renaissance inspire me creatively"
